I am 14 going on 15 and I listen to a ton of music from the 70's and 80's. I decided to make a fun post about my experiences and stuff you might understand if you are a retro teen or adult. I am not complaining about anything. I Just want to write a fun post and tell a few funny stories.
When I went to the orthodontist to get my braces tightened, My friend that works there asked me what I got for christmas. I told her I got an ipod. She asked me what song I have on so far. I brought it with me because I keep everything in my fanny pack so I showed her my song list. She then said "you listen to music from the orchestra?" I told her I didn't have music from an orchestra. I was trying to figure out what she was referring to. Then it finaly came to me. She was looking at my Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark tracks. It just cut off the rest of their name so it just said orchestra on it. I then explained everything but I don't think she knew who they were. She probably even thought my Culture Club tracks were traditional music from from many cultures. :)
My friends listen to a lot of modern rap music and they are suprized that I don't know what song they are listening to. I do hear the modern music that plays on the radio when my dad is taking me somewhere but thats just about it. My friends always listen to a lot of the exotic hip hop like Kanye West and that Whip and Nay Nay song and they always tell me "you got to know this one" and I never do. They do know some songs on my playlist like "Take On Me" by A-ha, "Axel F" by Harold Faltermeyer because of the crazy frog version, and Dan Hartman's "I Can Dream About You" because of the Penguins Of Madagascar movie. Awesome movie by the way. :D
The song "Neutron Dance" by The Pointer Sisters was playing at the gym yesterday while I was waiting in line at the vending machine to buy a candy bar. I was kinda singing along and the people in front of me were staring at me. That wasn't the first time I got stared at funny. I was running around the track and my headphones got unplugged so "Hungry Like The Wolf was blasting everywhere and there was this guy that looked at me funny. Lol
Embrace your inner Valley Girl or Mystery Boy. It is totally rad!
